What is a Functional Capacity Assessment?

A Functional Capacity Assessment is a detailed evaluation conducted by our experienced clinicians to assess your abilities and challenges across various life domains. This includes:

  • Self-Care: Tasks such as dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.

  • Household Tasks: Activities like cleaning, cooking, and managing household chores.

  • Mobility: Your ability to move around your home and community, including the use of mobility aids if necessary.

  • Communication: Understanding and expressing yourself effectively in different settings.

  • Social Participation: Engaging with others in social and community activities.

  • Cognitive Functioning: Memory, attention, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

The assessment involves a combination of interviews, observations, and standardized tests to gather a holistic view of your functional capacity.

Why is a Functional Capacity Assessment Important?

An FCA provides valuable insights into your daily functioning, helping to:

  • Identify areas where you may need support.

  • Determine the appropriate level of NDIS funding.

  • Develop a personalized support plan that aligns with your goals.

  • Ensure you receive the right services to enhance your independence and quality of life.

What does a session typically look like?

The FCA process typically includes:

  • Review and Planning: We will review the report with you and discuss the next steps.

The entire process may take a few hours over one or two sessions, depending on individual needs.
